How big were they? I'd love to do more off shore fly fishing. With a canoe, I'm kind of locked into the Indian and Banana rivers. I've been off shore a few times but the curse of the fly rod kept the fish away from the boat. Sounds like you had some fun out there.

2D

RE: Blackfin tuna on the fly

Nine weight fly rod, leader was standard with no double line. Final one foot was thirty pound test. Flies were clausers and decievers in blue and white and green and white with a lot of flasaboo.

RE: Blackfin tuna on the fly

Fantastic.....show the pics....got me an offshore slam Sunday.....Dolphin, Yellow Fin, and a Wahoo. What weight rod are you using for that, and how much backing does one of those footballs scream off?!

Blackfin tuna on the fly

This past weekend with the Black fins on the surface feed we scored five on the fly. One while casting and the rest at a slow troll. Was cool to watch and the other charter boats twelve miles offshore had all kinds of staring customers. Will post pictures later but a new twist for me to the fly rod. Try casting a clouser in to a swarm of black fins, just don't get to close or you will put the scholl down. The slow troll was discovered as weary casters left flies in the water as boat was moving.
