George, I don't know how you can keep such a beautiful fish? Why not release him to fight another day...Just think about it...(these were released, slot reds...)

What Mangrove is trying to say , when you catch a snook that you intend to release, try not to hold the snook vertically,even if just for a short time, They have sensative organs (primarily the liver) that can be damaged with fatal results, and even a small snook held vertical has a mortality rate of 75% after it is released back into th water ! Some of the "other forums" would go off the handle and throw a fit for you showing a picture of a fish being held that way. But I understand there are alot of people who are not aware of the damage caused by not supporting the fish`s body when it is picked up. As strange as it may sound, it is true....You can research the finding by reading Dr.Ron Taylor`s(AKA The Snook Doctor) report on fish mortality at www.thesnookfoundation.com ;)

of course i released the snook,but the red on the other hand was 24".i won't keep a undersized snook.u know the fines and so do i.i practice catch and release with all species except redfish.i only had one hand to to hold the fish as i was alone and had to take the picture.i fish that spot alot and i use barbless flies to assure a quick pic and release.

Were those fish released? Kinda sad to see the way you're handling those snook there mate. Yakkers are usually very conservation minded that's why I'm curious as to whether they were released or filleted??
