You would be better served buying a used kayak of a respectable brand rather then a new kayak of low quality. Check kayaking forums and craiglist as mentioned. Have your money ready and jump on a good deal when it comes up. The good deals do not last.

Ask for a test paddle when doing so.

Sports Authority or BPS.. low end mass merch. 10' to 12' yaks are available for that price range.

You are not going to find a "new" kayak in that price range.
Keep an eye online and look for people that have one just laying around not being used. They may sell it cheap just to get it out of the yard.

Try craigslist.com. I always see kayaks for sale in my area.

Looking to buy a Kayak

I am looking to buy a kayak to fish in no motor zones in Mosquito Lagoon and wanted to hear some suggestions about what typ I should get. I don't have a boat and havnt been on the water in about 4 months so I decided this would be the best way for me to get out there. I've noticed that most of the better kayaks run from $600-1000 but I'm only looking to spend no more than $300. I live in Orlando ( an hour drive to Mosquito) and work 5 days a week so I'd only be able to go on weekends, which is another reason I dont want to spend alot of money on it. Any suggestions on new kayaks in my price range or a trusting site I can find some nice used kayaks? Not looking for a kayak with all the extra addons, as long as it floats and has a rod holder Id be happy with it. Any help would be appreciated.
