It is absolutely awesome !!!! All is working as designed. Last time out, with two of us (6'6"-280# & my fishing buddy 240#). she would float, under power, in 10" of water. Quite frankly, that is all I could hope for. It seems, I might of found a center console out of a 2020 Action Craft. That might be the next update. Photos to follow !!!!!!

RE: Finally..............progress

I already had a water pressure gauge and this is my second boat with a jackplate. I've never had an issue with this jackplate or the the other one I had. The only time I really jack it up is to run real skinny or when I'm idling through some skinny water. I just run it as if it didn't have a plate until I need it. So far, so good!

RE: Finally..............progress

Did you have a water pressure gauge installed too? With a jack plate they are a must-have item. If you run that nose cone in the shallow water standby for a ton of overheats. They suck up every little thing within a ten foot radius and send it through the waterpump. Your waterpumps won't last a year either, so keep a few spares in the parts locker. You'll also see a lot of overheats if you jump the boat out of the water a lot, like in a choppy bay or such. The nose cones suck in a lot of air and pass it on up to the powerhead. So instead of cooling water in the powerhead you end up with steamed air. You'll get tired of the nose cone by the end of the year and be looking for a stock lower unit again...
-Mike

RE: Finally..............progress

I know the feeling !!!!!!!!!!! I aint never gotten so many strange looks ..havin people go by the house and see a big ol 4x4 hooked up to a boat with a log chain and a come along :D

I secured one side of the front legs with a strap to the cleat and went around to the other side and strarted pulling the other front leg a little at a time until I got it where I needed it..then marked around the base and took it loose , drilled the whole and repeated the process all over again...third bolt in a a matter of minutes, this was gonna be a piece of cake ! So I moved tot the other side and did this little ritual all over again.....and after an hour of climbing in and out of the boat...I got pissed enough that I released the tention on the legs to see why the 4th bolt wouldnt go into the threads...Welllll it seems that 4th bolt..(I forgot to mention , I lost one at the beginning, sat it down somewhere and never seen it again:unsure: So a quick trip to the hardwear store and I THOUGHT I was back in business...Nope) Appearently , that bolt I lost...was a different size that the other three,:crying: because when I tried one of the others in the whole and the one I bought also ...they are to big for the threaded insert ! I gave up last night after making zero progress and about to bleed to death from all the million cuts on my hands and arms , so I will go back to town today and buy an assortment of various sizes and threads till I find one that fits! Aaaaand if that fails .. I will be the only one on the water that will have a platform mounted with duct tape :w00t::D

RE: Finally..............progress

Well.................I dropped her off tuesday and will pick her up friday. I picked it up, today, from Bob's Machine. The new hydraulic jackplate, low water pickup, and skeg, look absolutely awesome!!!! Tomorrow, it goes to Gunn's Welding, in St. Pete, to have a couple of badly rusted bolts extracted. Then...................... I've got to wait till the 2nd, to take it to Quality T-Tops, in Tarpon Springs, for the new poling platform.

Next.....refurb the trailer !!!!:w00t:
