Took my dad out for the day in Scottsmoor.  It was slow this morning, we saw a couple overslot fish at first light but no luck with them.  We finally hooked up with a tailer at about 9 o'clock.
28"

The fish were turned off until about noon and then it was on.....

This fish was caught busting mullet under the mangroves in the skinny

This fish was backing about 15 ft away from the boat, about 5 ft away from the bank!  My dad was suprised a 29" fish could swim in that shallow water.

We found a school in the  mouth of a canal system and only pulled two fish out of it.

The wind picked up and I couldn't pole anymore into the wind.

This was a real test for Carbon Marine's casting pillar and the Mangrove push pole.  They both performed excellent!!!  I polled from 6 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon and my arms aren't numb

It was a great day full of new memories with my dad!

So she outfishes me......  She only catches catfish!

Scottsmoore seems to be the place to fish right now! The moon was pretty bright this morning as I headed out to the ramp. Fished New Found Harbor and the Thousand Islands but got to the islands a little late for the bite on the flats. Caught one mangrove snapper in Kiwannis Basin and one trout on the west shore of NFH. Bite was very slow early in the a.m. as well. Dying to head out to Scottsmoore next week though! Were you guys fishing the east or the west side?

It seems everyone is fishin the north end but try to go where no one is......  Thats what I did, and the fish were there (both east and west banks)

I love fishing Scottsmoor!  I grew up on Huntington Ave. and fished there my whole life....  I found at certain times of the year, the fish are in different places thicker than others.....  Same goes when the water is high or low.  The fish are very predictable (except when they bite sometimes ).  I will be out Sat. morning with a co-worker and his friend that is home from Iraq.  I hope I can put this guy on some fish, he's earned it!

So she outfishes me......  She only catches catfish!
