| | Hey guys, I met a nice family who has an 8 year old son who has recently gotten hooked on fishing, he lives in Stuart Florida and fishes a nearby freshwater pond, but hasn't had much luck. I donated a lot of gear that we had lying around, but not much for freshwater. He is really excited, and they want to encourage his newfound love to keep him out of trouble in the future. Anyway I gave him all the advise I could on freshwater, river, and saltwater fishing and tackle to match and a number of spots to try. However I know way less about freshwater, and would like to increase his knowledge so that he gets really addicted, and the best way to do that is with shared experience. So I am asking for any help, you know, any tricks, knots, baits, spots to look for, presentation etc. Please post ANYTHING that can help increase his chances, and make him look good in the process LOL. Thanks guys. Mike

| | I would say when you go early in the mouring to try a buzzbait or a topwater torpedoin what ever color you like in the middle of the day spinnerbaits and mostly any thing that is flashy.what you can do is find out what them bass are eating in that pond and just basically match the hatch that's really all you have to do.because bass fishin is really easy once you find out what they eat and you can sit there and catch them all day because i have done it plenty of times say try to take thiis advice.hopes this helps you.tight lines! |

| | bomber "fat a" in silver or chartouse. reel for a couple of cranks then let float for a 2 count repeat until strike always works, work the shorelines any time of day. |

| | I fish freshwater everyday and I catch bass off of CALs, swim baits, spinners, jigs, spoons, worms, buzzbaits, creatures baits, crankbaits, topwater, and poppers. For the poppers and topwater, you walk the dog. For spinners, spoons, crankbaits, and buzzbaits, you real in steadily, but not too slow. Bass like food that is a little fast so they don't have time to see if it is fake. Buzzbaits should be splashing at the surface. For jigs, you twitch them off of the bottom. Creature baits and worms can be worked the same with a small sliding egg or bullet weight. Creature baits can also be worked in the middle to the top of the water column without a weight, being twitched while reeled in. Swimbaits and CALs can be reeled in constantly, or you can lift the rod up fast so you can feel the tail paddle then drop it rod tip and reel up the slack and a little more, repeat this until the next cast. Never slow any bait down much when a fish is following it because it would lose interest in it. If you get a bite, work the bait the same way as when you got it, in the same spot. |

| | Thanks FM, I'll pass that along to him. I keep in touch with his parents, and he's still out there almost everyday, in fact when they found out about Mogan Mania, they decided to bring him so he can really get into it, and be around other young anglers. August 1st is also his Birthday, so they are just going to surprise him with Mogan Mania! He's only 8 years old but he's catchin fish, and now he repairs the rods & reels for the neighborhood kids (mostly the girls LOL). He's unstoppable now. Thanks again for all the info you guys. I can't wait to see his face when he arrives at Mogan Mania!!! Mike :o)
