got to the south pier around 9 am. took a while to catch bait this morning. met up with a few buddies and started to catch mangrove snappers. caught many ranging from 9 inches to 16 inches. the snapper bite tapered off at about noon but we started getting into the tarpon. between chris, jason, larry, rich, myself, & my son jeremy, we jumped 17 of them ranging from 50 pounds to 100 pounds. one even left me a souvenir. the scale was from a 60 pounder that i had hooked up with. |

| What bait and how were you rigging for the tarpon?

| | using dead threadfins from 5" to 7" long on the bottom. very little weight, maybe 1/8 oz. let it go to the bottom slowly and bump it up into the current every so often until the bait was too far under the other span. also chummed lightly with dead threadfins. just enough to get there attention. |
