I am going to go surf fishing a few times over the next couple months and wanted to know how everyone has been doing. I am new to surf fishing and only have gone to Playalinda a hand full of times. I was looking for a few hot spots and what rigs and baits are being used for the different areas. I am in Central Florida and would be fishing the Daytona, New Smyrna,Titusville, Playalinda, and Cocoa areas.

I currently have a 12' medium heavy acting surf rod for bottom rigs or pomp rigs and a few smaller rods for casting jigs and lures.

I would greatly appreciate any help and tips that you guys can give me. The more specific the better when it comes to some spots were there might be a troth and what fish are typically in the area and what baits and rigs you would use.

Thanks,
Austin

well i fish satellite beach south to sebastian and the surf fishing has been really hot...the rod you have is good but i use my regular inshore spinning (15lb PP 7'6" rod and 3000 series shperos) and believe me i out fish most of the guys on the beach it is a lot easier to feel bites and it is a 20X better fight you cant even feel the fish on those huge rods... now you should look for clean water... pomps like sand bottom and also calm days... if you can find the trough then fish right in the middle of it.. if you cast to far to the first sandbar you wont catch anything and if you cast to close in you will catch whiting and croakers...you cant beat cut clams and a hint is to use froz. clams they are a lot cheaper and they work just as well (and plus you dont have to shuck them   its late so tell me if i left out anything

tight lines dude !
