Buddy of mine tried to get me fired up about these lures a few years back. First time I used one I tried to flick the rod tip on retrieve to make it flick about like a surface or sub-surface plug, and it listed on top like a red tide victim. He shook his head, cast his own DOA mullet and retrieved it in slow, long pulls and short pauses, making sure it glided just under the surface. (If you watch finger mullet swim, they kick and glide like that). A half hour later he hooked and caught a 34" snook on the edge of the flat. Not sure if this is what the manufacturer had in mind, but I assume it is. They require a very methodical, patient approach. I'm an impatient guy who likes to see his plugs kick and flash, so I didn't stick with them. But they do work. And I hear big tarpon like them, too.

I bought a few for Tarpon (along will the bait busters) and they work very well on bull reds that were holding deep.

I just bounced them off the bottom w/ the tide.

Got these guys last fall

Nice Sam, I have used the Bait Buster and had success on tarpon, but I think I'll give the  swimming mullet a try now.

i really like the doa lures ive tried all of them and own a few of the swimming mullet, bfl , bait buster and floater but a really use the 3 inch shrimp and 1/4 oz terrorize like kayak and light tackle spinning cant get that with the bigger lures there just to heavy for medlight rods but the big lures do catch large fish and with the right setup they are still fun to fish with.  i had a question has anyone got there hands on the new carolina lunker sauce mullet flavor i sure Capt Blair has tried it but is it for sell yet if not when does it go on sell i looked on the AF Store but no luck the Carolina Lunker site said it is new and said bass pro and cabelas carry there products but they dont have the mullet yet?
