Manatee sighns don't do a whole lot if you ask me... almost every manatee that is killed due to a water craft collision is by a barge or tug boat it's rare that a recreational boater kills a manatee you can look up records if you want to cause every manatee carcass found they do an investagation to see what killed it if it's not the cold water, red tide, or crushed by the locks it's usually a barge or tug boat...although i do not disagree with low wake sighns just cause of the fertile grass beds but i do think that they should have certain pop up zones where a flats boat can get on plane.....just my opioin tho i remember back in the day when there was no sighns we would water ski right next to the docks then we could let go and slide right on up grab the dock and not even get wet...
