I do alot of redfishing in Louisiana. Is there a way to care for the line besides washing it down? How often should I change my line?

I use a baitcaster Shimano Chronarch 100SV with 10lb test mono. I cast about what seames 1000-2000 time a day twice a week and what is happening is the line breaks in the spool not at the fish. I thought about trying PowerPro but affraid to try Braid.

One more thing I use a 1/4oz unpainted jig haed with a swim bait and no matter what, I can set that hook like there no end but the hook just does not stay set it the redfish's mouth, is their a better jig head or should i try harder with the hook set?

This is the way I care for my line....I go fishing then I throw my pole in the back of my truck...then...I go fishing again...and again....I use power pro and have done nothing to it.....I have not tried it on a baitcaster but have one coming and was planning on using it since I have had no problems on a spinner....any feedback would be appreciated

Fish, Rinse, Repeat.

Hey Mwaldo... the spinning reel is much more practical and all around useful for what you do than a baitcaster. Save yourself the time and aggrevation.

I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great!

DOA...the baitcaster is to give my hands a break by changing things up a bit. It won't be used all the time just on ocassion. BTW caught my first snook on a rootbeer terroreyez last night. Kind of stunk cause he hit it right below my feet as I was pulling it out of the water. Not much of a fight...just hauled him over the catwalk. He was only about 20" but it beats ladyfish
