| | I used to work as a wetlands land surveyor for several years and we used to run across all kinds of snakes, but the one we had to watch out the most for are Copperheads.
They'll sit motionless, looking like a stick, until you step on them or stick a bodypart in there face. I stuck my machete in the ground one time and when I went to pick it up I noticed a big copperhead sitting less than a foot from it. One interesting thing about these guys is that they're convinced they're rattlesnakes and they'll start shaking their tail at you once threatened even though they have nothing to rattle! Still, cottonmouths, and their nonpoisonous cousin the brown watersnake, are the meanest snakes I've ever seen.

| The cool thing about cooper heads , they produce a odor(like black snakes ) when they feel threatened and if you are aware of the smell , you dont have to worry about stepping on one ...The best way to describe it is sorta like the smell of rotten cucumbers
