Larger Than Life 8/10/2006 Recovering from Mogan Mania and trying to keep cool as Mother Nature cranks up the furnace around the country. I did my part to help by finally getting my home air conditioner fixed, and thank god it’s chilly again.
Last weekend was the last weekend of summer and we (what else) went out fishing. Caught some shark, and a couple of jacks on my new Wright & McGill In-Shore Slam Series rods . . . and got a sneak peek at Power Pro’s new Phantom Red line. Very cool stuff.
Oh, and I’ve a big treat coming up August 21 and 22, when I get to shoot a show with Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs. We’ll get to see if he can swing a Wright & McGill rod as well as he can swing a bat…
Speaking of shows, we just shot one again in a favorite haunt, Roosevelt Bridge, out on the waters of Florida’s Treasure Coast. Here’s where we perfected our “doggin’ the Roosevelt” technique for fishing bridges. I’d try to explain how it’s kind of a vertical-thing-a-ma-what’s-it action, but it’ll make loads more sense if you see the show. Once you see that show, and you’ll know all you need to know about how to catch fish under any bridge – anywhere.
And I’ve got an old buddy from my Air Force days in town visiting, reminiscing about old times and, you guessed it, fishing.
Getting my photo taken in the next day or so for a life-size cutout of yours truly to greet folks (and scare shoplifters) who come to Florida’s very first Gander Mountain outdoors superstore in Lake Mary, near Disney World. I and the rest of the Addictive Fishing crew will be there, in the flesh, at the store’s grand opening on September 22, 23 and 24. We’ll be giving away goodies and gabbing out my In-Slam Series rods. Come join us – it’ll be one big party. If I owe you money, please talk to my life-size photo cutout…
