We were anchored up by this bridge pilling just dropping straight down 10ft. It's about 35 degrees, hands are frozen from getting shrimp out of water and we were in the shade with no sun. I get 2 hook ups on my smaller spinning combo consisted of a 7'6"ft. Ande rod, Quantum Optix reel end 14 pound Stren mono. Now anybody who has ever fought a decent black drum knows what they're capable of. Got two hook ups and two break offs on the pilings. Lucky for me I brought my big pole. A Tsunami heavy rod,a Penn bait runner reel and 20 lb Stren mono. He still took drag but he came nowhere near pilings and into the net. |
